Abraham ben Samuel Abulafia (Hebrew: אברהם בן שמואל אבולעפיה) was the founder of the school of „Prophetic Kabbalah”. He was born in Zaragoza, Spain in 1240 and is assumed to have died sometime after 1291, following a stay on the small and windswept island of Comino, the smallest of the three inhabited islands that make up the Maltese archipelago (Wikipedia).
Of course, you may discover a lot about this mysterious character on the internet… but what you need to know is that I always had a powerful interest in him and Maimonides (Moses ben Maimon, 1138–1204, also known by the acronym Rambam) - another spiritual leader from those dark years of the Middle Ages. I have some adventurous dreams with these two princes of words, ciphers, sacred mysteries, and Kabbalah – one of those dreams is this one, described in my cathartic composition…
